10-week Roadmap To Become a Better Esports Coach

career coaching communication performance personality practice scrims well being Mar 10, 2026

Let me ask you something: how much time have you spent watching coaching videos, studying gameplay footage, reading up on the latest strategies, and still feeling like something is missing?

I get it. I've been there.

The truth is, information alone won't make you a better coach. What actually moves the needle is transformation, knowing exactly where you stand right now, and then deliberately building the skills that take you to the next level.

That's what the Esports Coach Revolution is about. Not just teach you concepts, but change how you coach. Below is a breakdown of each week and what we'll tackle together. In this blog I cover key concepts that you can learn from already, right away.

The 10-Week Roadmap

Week 1 — From Information to Transformation

We kick things off by looking inward.

Before you can lead others to grow, you need to understand where you are in your own development. In Week 1, I'm going to ask you to slow down and take an honest look at yourself as a coach:

  • What are your real strengths?
  • Where are you holding yourself, or your players, back?
  • What does your growth actually look like over the next 10 weeks?
  • And also, we will go in depth on what coaching esports actually is, and also what it is NOT. Going over the Essence of Coaching, the core principle that influences all of your coaching interactions.

This isn't just a reflection for the sake of it. It's the foundation that everything else is built on.

Week 2 — The Coaching Framework

Structure is what separates random practice from real development. In Week 2, I'll introduce you to the coaching framework that runs underneath every great session.

You'll learn how to:

  • Design practice sessions that actually produce improvement
  • Use a preparation sheet to plan with intention
  • Set up every session so players are engaged and learning from minute one

When you have structure, you stop winging it — and your players feel the difference. You will transform from being an amateur just doing stuff, into a professional that can dictate the pace and development your players and team actually want and need in an enjoyable way, ready for high-level competitive esports.

Week 3 — The Coaching Framework (Part 2)

Preparation matters. But what happens when the session is live? That's where most coaches struggle.

In Week 3, we shift from planning to execution. You'll develop the ability to:

  • Lead sessions with confidence and clarity
  • Improve how much players actually retain from your coaching
  • Track individual progress over time
  • Adapt in the moment based on what players need

The best coaches don't just follow the plan, they read the room and flex. You can be in control and positively influence every step of the way, from start to finish. Making your sessions highly effective, and productive at the same time.

Week 4 — The Four Pillars of Coaching

Here's something a lot of coaches underestimate: the psychological environment you create determines almost everything.

If players don't feel safe, they won't take risks. If they don't feel respected, they'll stop listening. Week 4 is about building the right foundation:

  • Creating a psychologically safe space where players can fail and grow
  • Setting agreements and expectations that everyone buys into
  • Motivating players in a way that actually sticks

This is where good coaches become great ones.

Week 5 — The Four Pillars of Coaching (Part 2)

Now we go deeper into player-centered coaching, and this is one of my favourite parts of the program.

Most coaches direct. The best coaches empower. In Week 5, you'll learn how to:

  • Shift to a coaching style that puts the player at the center
  • Increase your influence without relying on authority
  • Help players work harder and smarter, while actually enjoying the process
  • Adapting to your players wants and needs on an individual and team level
  • Develop real leadership qualities within your team
  • Asking smart and deep-diving coach questions to unlock the potential of the players

When players feel ownership over their growth, everything changes.

Week 6 — Coaching and Teaching Techniques

You can know everything about the game and still fail as a coach if you can't communicate effectively. Week 6 is dedicated entirely to that skill.

We'll work on:

  • Communicating in a way that lands, not just information, but transformation
  • Breaking down complex ideas so players truly understand them
  • Presenting feedback that players can actually apply

The difference between players who hear your feedback and players who act on it? How you deliver it.

Week 7 — Team Building and Conflict Management

Let me tell you something about conflict: it's not the enemy. Handled badly, yes it will destroys teams. But handled well, it's one of the most powerful tools for building trust and cohesion, and reaching optimal performance. The best coaches use conflicts to grow and outperform the competition.

In Week 7, we tackle:

  • Building genuine trust and confidence between players
  • Understanding the natural stages of team development and how to identify them
  • Adjusting your coaching style to match where your team is
  • Turning conflict into a moment of growth rather than a crisis

Strong teams aren't built by avoiding friction. They're built by learning to move through it together. and become stronger because of it

Week 8 — Growing Your Career and Making Money (Part 1)

Here's the reality: coaching skill alone won't build your career. You also need to know how to position yourself in this industry.

Week 8 is where we start talking about the professional side:

  • The different career paths available to you as an esports coach
  • How to generate income — and which opportunities are worth your time
  • How to stand out from every other coach applying for the same roles
  • How to perform at your best during tryouts

Your coaching ability gets you in the room. Your positioning gets you the job.

Week 10 — Becoming a Certified Coach

This is where everything comes together.

In the final week, you'll apply everything you've built over the past 10 weeks in a final coaching assignment. You'll demonstrate your understanding, your growth, and your readiness to coach at a higher level.

And when you cross the finish line, you become certified.

That's not just a piece of paper. It's proof of what you're capable of.

What Happens After the 10 Weeks?

The program ends, but your development doesn't. Every participant receives:

  • Ongoing support until your certification is fully completed
  • Access to a database of real esports coaching opportunities
  • Access to an esports coaching training ground to keep sharpening your skills

I built this because I know that the hardest part isn't finishing the program.it's keeping the momentum going after. Use it or lose it. I want to make sure you have everything you need to keep moving forward.

One Last Thing Before You Start

"If you really want to go fast, slow down."

I will say this in our first session, and I'll keep saying it throughout the program.

The coaches who rush through, consuming as much as possible, jumping from one thing to the next, rarely make the progress they're hoping for. The coaches who slow down, reflect, write things down, and actually think about what they're learning? Those are the ones who transform.

That's what this program is about. Not just information. Transformation.

If you find this interesting and are looking to improve your coaching to the next level, and become a very competent coach with the right structures, environment-building skills, and transformative coaching skills, then the Esports Coach Revolution is the thing for you.
